Obstetrics Emergency Department in Southern Dallas

Reducing the incidence of pre-term births.

The Commitment:  $1,148,907

Established in 1927, Methodist Dallas Medical Center is the only hospital in southern Dallas with a Level III Maternal State Designation and a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. As a non-profit, faith-based hospital, its mission is to improve and save lives through compassionate, quality healthcare, and it serves approximately 75,000 patients each year.

Crystal Charity Ball will fund construction of an Obstetrics Emergency Department (OB-ED) to be housed within Methodist Dallas’ newly transformed Labor & Delivery Unit. The OB-ED will include five private patient rooms, enabling quick and efficient emergency care for pregnant women who present with high-risk pregnancies, urgent medical needs, and pregnancy-related complications. The OB-ED’s timely and specialized care will reduce the incidence of preterm deliveries by 22 percent, supporting 2,400 newborns each year, and increasing to 4,000 pregnant women and babies annually within 5 years.
