Texas Home Access Fund, Inc. (THAF) enhances quality of life, improves safety and increases independence for physically challenged individuals by making necessary home modifications for families who do not have the means to fund the construction. The typical THAF client lives at or below the poverty level and is referred by institutions such as Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, Muscular Dystrophy Association, People Helping People and Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation. Simple construction modifications are luxuries many families cannot afford due to the overwhelming financial burden created by disability or illness. By providing these modifications, Texas Home Access Fund, Inc. fulfills physical, logistical, and emotional needs for the needy, wheelchair-bound individuals they serve.

The Project
Home Modifications for Disabled Children

Crystal Charity Ball funds will be used over a three-year period for modifications to the homes of low-income, physically challenged children. Typical modifications include wheel-in showers, handicapped sinks, ramp construction, and widened doorways. Families of disabled children often wait years for federal or state aid to make home modifications to accommodate their children. After researching the needs of these families, Texas Home Access Fund mobilizes its construction team to organize and schedule the needed work. These funds will enable THAF to modify 35 homes for greater accessibility and safety and to serve 35 children and their families over three years.
